History

Breeder Ann Baker developed the Ragdoll cat by crossing the domestic longhaired white cat Josephine with other cats of unknown ancestry. She chose cats with gentle personalities and long coats to produce beautiful cats with loving characters. She gave the name Ragdoll for the new breed as new cats were amiable and, without any resistance, could be handled in anyone’s arms. After Ann created the Ragdoll cat, others mixed it with Persians, Birmans and Burmese breeds until we can see the result – the Ragdoll cat as we recognize it today. Despite similarities with other cats’ breed fur, this cat no one directly bred with any other breeds. Anne started to develop the cat around the 1960s, but the first Ragdoll cat was registered 30 years later.

Children And Other Pets

This breed adores humans of every age, and the Ragdolls are great even for tiny children as they are smooth and friendly.

Choosing the Best Food for Ragdoll Cats

Food should be complete and balanced as they grow up in large sizes. It is good to combine the dry food with the wet to keep the cat’s hydration optimal. When older, food can contain more ingredients to keep the cat’s fur silky, abundant and smooth.

Choosing the Best Food for Ragdoll Kittens

Until the cats turn the age of two or three, Ragdoll cats should eat rich kitten food. After that phase, cats should have the transition phase to adult food which will start to consume when being four years old.
